OPSEU was founded in 1911 as the Civil Service Association of Ontario, became OPSEU in 1975 as a more member-driven union, and officially adopted the name OPSEU\/SEFPO in 2022. Today, the union represents approximately 180,000 members across Ontario, including workers in colleges, health care, the Ontario Public Service, and the broader public sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At Georgian College, Local 349 has long served as a voice for support staff, grounded in solidarity, fairness, and respect in the workplace. The local\u2019s role grew further in 2018, when part-time support workers at Georgian College were officially assigned to Local 349, making the local a stronger and more inclusive home for both full-time and part-time members.
