On Wednesday, April 29, Local 349 members joined education workers, students, and community allies as part of OPSEU/SEFPO’s Province-Wide Day of Action for Public Education.

Actions took place across Ontario, including rallies in Peterborough and Cornwall. OPSEU/SEFPO called on members and allies to stand together for fair, accessible, publicly funded education and to show support for workers and students across the college and education sectors.
The Day of Action came at an important time for Ontario’s public colleges. OPSEU/SEFPO has raised serious concerns about the announced Fleming College and St. Lawrence College merger, describing it as part of a broader pattern of underfunding and instability in the public college system.
Local 349 was proud to be present and to stand in solidarity with fellow OPSEU/SEFPO members from across the province. Our participation reflects our commitment to strong public education, properly funded colleges, and the workers and students who keep our campuses moving every day.
